Understand when transport fees are charged, how they are calculated and how the Package Details captured in your listing information affect the applicable fee.
Transport fees are charged per unit, not per order
A separate transport fee applies to each unit successfully delivered to a customer.
If an order contains multiple units, the applicable transport fee is charged for each unit in the order.
How Packs Can Reduce the Impact of Transport Fees
A product listed and sold as a pack is treated as one unit for transport fee purposes.
Individual listings: If a customer purchases two separately listed units, the transport fee is charged twice.
Pack listing: If the same products are listed and sold together as one pack, the pack is treated as one unit and one transport fee applies.
Selling suitable products in packs may help reduce the transport fee impact per item and improve your unit economics.
How Final-Mile and Return Fees Are Calculated
The applicable final-mile and return fee is determined by the following information captured under Package Details in the product listing:

Package weight
These listing details determine the product’s transport size and weight classification. The fee is not calculated from dimensions shown on the waybill or by measuring the parcel when it is handed to the courier.
Accurate Listing Package Details Are Essential
Make sure the Package Details captured in the listing information accurately reflect the fully packaged product. Incorrect dimensions or weight may result in the wrong courier being allocated and the incorrect transport fee being charged.

Final-Mile Transport Fee
Applies to: FBS and FBM orders
Charged: Per unit successfully delivered
Calculation: Based on the Package Details captured in the product listing information
The final-mile fee covers the successful delivery of a unit to the customer. If an order contains more than one unit, the fee is charged separately for each successfully delivered unit.
Return Transport Fee
If a successfully delivered unit is later returned, a separate return transport fee is charged for that unit.
Charged: Per returned unit
Rate: Uses the same Package Details captured in the product listing information as the final-mile fee
Result: A delivery fee applies when the unit is successfully delivered, followed by a return fee if that unit is later returned
Failed delivery returned to the seller
No transport fee is charged when a delivery is unsuccessful and the unit is returned directly to the seller. Transport fees apply only following a successful customer delivery or when a return is processed after a successful delivery.

First-Mile Transport Fee
The first-mile fee applies only when stock is sent to a Makro Fulfilment Centre for Fulfilled by Makro.
Applies to: FBM consignments only
Charged: Per consignment or waybill, not per individual unit
Calculation: Based on the total consignment volume and weight
Current fee: First-mile delivery is currently free until further notice
Unlike final-mile and return fees, the first-mile fee is based on the total FBM consignment being sent to the Makro Fulfilment Centre. The table below shows the standard first-mile rates per consignment or waybill, exclusive of VAT.
