What Is the Buybox?
Understand how Makro Marketplace determines which seller’s offer is displayed as the primary buying option on a product page.
The Buybox determines which seller’s offer is shown to the customer as the main buying option on a product page.
Makro Marketplace operates as a democratic marketplace. This means that when multiple sellers offer the same product, they must compete against one another on the same product listing rather than create separate listings for the identical product.
Important: Marketplace sellers can compete with other marketplace sellers and with Makro to win the Buybox for the same product.
How the Buybox Works
The seller offering the best overall option to the customer will win the Buybox. Their offer will appear as the primary buying option on the product page.
The Buybox is mainly determined by the product price, but other factors may also be considered. These factors may change over time as the marketplace develops.
Factors That May Influence the Buybox
The factors considered may include:
Price
The total price offered to the customer is the main factor used to determine the best offer.
Customer Promise Date
How quickly the product can be prepared, dispatched and delivered to the customer may influence the Buybox.
Seller Performance
Seller performance and the ability to consistently fulfil customer orders may also be considered.
Where Can Customers Find the Other Offers?
Only the Buybox winner is displayed as the main buying option on the product page. However, the offers from other sellers are still available to customers.
Customers can select See Other Sellers on the product page to view and compare the additional offers available for that product.
To improve your chances of winning the Buybox, keep your pricing competitive, maintain reliable fulfilment performance and ensure that customers receive the best possible overall offer.
